Reporting directly to the Vice President of Products, this exciting, newly created Field Applications Engineer (FAE) role will be based in our Chandler, AZ R&D center. Due to the “hands on” nature of this essential position, candidates must reside within the Phoenix metropolitan area and be willing to work in-office at least 4 days a week. As our FAE, you will work within Erthos’s Products group and assist in the product development process by testing our products, writing applications test reports, facilitating new product introductions, conducting trainings, and seeking user feedback. You will be consistently collaborating and working closely with product development engineers, test engineers, sales engineers, product management and marketing teams to ensure we continue to offer the most innovative products and services for large scale PV applications. You will be expected to apply your existing knowledge of commercial and utility-scale PV installation technology to the team in order to develop relevant and intuitive products that will facilitate greater operational efficiency and ease of installation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather intelligence on new opportunities and challenges with existing products and work with the Product Management and Product Development teams to develop timely and cost-effective solutions.
  • Work with the Product Management and Product Development teams to create, refine, and test new product concepts.
  • Manage projects with third party test labs and consultants.
  • Communicate product changes, technical solutions, and quality assurance issues to key partners on a regular and timely basis.
  • Work closely with project managers to provide updates on new and revised products, technical updates and solutions as well as providing suggestions for operational improvements in the field.
  • Assist with documentation and technical content including videos, online lessons, manuals and component level instructions.
  • Assist with pilot installations.
  • Assist the Service Team to identify product or training issues and provide feedback to appropriate internal departments and key accounts.
  • Conduct technical instructor-led trainings and on-the-job trainings.
  • Assist with preparation and product set-up at trade shows.
  • Provide written reports for applications level product tests and other activities.
  • Assist with full technical evaluation of competitive products on the market and perform SWOT analyses when necessary.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred, but we are very open to candidates who have the equivalent field work experience.
  • 2+ years of ground mounted commercial or utility-scale PV installation experience.
  • 1+ year working in a technical customer support role including over-the-phone or in-the-field support experience.
  • Experience working closely with licensed contractors specialized in trades such as general construction, electrical, concrete, civil works, etc.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience using hand and power tools commonly used in solar plant construction.
  • Familiarity with applicable industry building and electrical codes (NEC, IBC, UL 2703).
  • Exceptional computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • AutoCAD skills are a HUGE bonus.
  • Exceptional written, oral, and presentation skills.
  • You are a self-starter, with an innately strong attention to detail in everything you do.
  • Experience conducting instructor led, classroom and/or in the field trainings and curriculum development is ideal.
  • Strong background in construction (carpentry, electrical, general).
  • Experience working on utility-scale PV projects. Ideally, we are searching for candidates who possess at least 2 years of field experience in utility scale PV construction.
  • You must have an innate mechanical aptitude and be the type of person who enjoys the challenge of repairing or rebuilding complex mechanical items (i.e., a motor, washing machine, etc.) and have the fortitude to complete the task.
Location and Travel Requirements

As this is a field position, you must be willing and able to travel domestically up to approximately 35% of the time.
