Project Manager

Job Category: Project Management
Job Type: Full-Time
Job Location: Remote

Position Summary
As a Project Manager (PM) reporting to the Senior Director of Project Management, this newly created role is responsible for leading cross-functional teams to uphold and implement the company’s established practices and procedures. The core focus is to ensure safety, quality, profitability, and client satisfaction. This role specifically pertains to managing large-scale solar power projects across the United States, employing the Erthos Earth Mount Solar™ PV System.

You will lead a cross functional team through all phases of the project from initiation through pre-construction, execution, and close-out. The right candidate must be skilled in core project management principles such as scheduling, budget management, communication, risk identification, negotiation, and scope management.

Our patented Earth Mount Solar™ technology is completely new, so standard construction processes and procedures are constantly being created, improved upon, and refined. Because of this, the successful candidate for this role MUST be an extremely flexible individual who thrives in a dynamic environment and truly enjoys the challenge of solving unforeseen problems as they arise both on and off-site.

Due to the nature of being the primary Project Manager for multiple assignments (approximately 2 – 4 at any given time), travel to various sites is integral to the role.

Erthos Execution Model
To provide some insight into the Erthos model, we closely follow the American Institute of Architects (AIA) contracting model. Erthos contracts directly with project Owners and serves as the project “Architect,” performing the engineering and design of the solar PV power plant, largely using automated tools to simplify and streamline the design process through submission of Issued for Permitting drawings to the Authority Having Jurisdiction. A separate company (a General Contractor) will perform the installation of the solar plant according to the Issued for construction drawings developed by Erthos. Erthos will also observe and act as the Owner’s Engineer during the construction and commissioning of the PV plant, and then act as the operations and maintenance entity for the completed plant.

Key Responsibilities
As the ‘quarterback’ for a cross functional execution team, you will work with a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders and have the following responsibilities:

  • Engage in end-to-end project management, involving contract development, project planning, collaboration with Engineering and Procurement teams, oversight of site installation, and close coordination with the Operations & Maintenance team to ensure reliable power production from day one.
  • Ensure comprehensive scope management, guaranteeing that all essential deliverables specified via Contractual documents are fully completed to Client satisfaction.
  • Conduct risk management for the project, which includes planning for potential risks, identifying them, analyzing their impact, strategizing responses, and controlling these risks throughout the project.
  • Track and monitor the tasks required to manage the timely completion of the project – engaging in regular schedule updates and the identification and mitigation of potential schedule risks.
  • Work in close collaboration with the Erthos team to expertly manage all budget-related aspects of the project. This includes meticulous planning, detailed estimating, careful budgeting, and stringent cost control. The goal is to ensure the successful completion of the project within its designated budget.
  • Review and support the processes and activities of the installation Contractor – to ensure that the project meets or exceeds quality related objectives.
  • Ensure efficient and timely management of project information. This includes planning, gathering, creating, distributing, storing, retrieving, and controlling information, as well as monitoring and ultimately overseeing its proper disposition.
  • Support the Erthos Supply Chain team as they provide procurement services to the project owner for all major equipment (modules, transformers, inverters, AC switchgear).
  • Support the Erthos Supply Chain team as they price and procure the Erthos ErthGear products – effectively all components on the ‘DC’ side of the solar PV power plant.
  • Identify all people or organizations impacted by the project, analyzing stakeholder expectations and impact on the project, and developing appropriate management strategies for effectively engaging stakeholders in project decisions and execution.
  • Ensure projects abide by all environmental safety awareness and compliance.
  • Ensure the well-being of yourself and others, as well as those potentially impacted by the daily tasks of this role, by personally taking responsibility for safety measures at job sites.
  • Provide management and oversight of 2-4 construction projects at any given time.

Education and Technical Knowledge
Our preferences and requirements for education and technical knowledge are as follows:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) from a four-year College or University in Construction Management, Engineering, a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 – 4 years of construction industry experience in construction techniques, estimating and construction management.
  • PM experience within the solar PV and/or renewable energy industries is HIGHLY desirable.
  • PMP Certification is desirable.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required; knowledge of MS Project preferred.
  • Experience utilizing Procore is highly desirable.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret blueprints, professional journals, technical procedures, contracts, and governmental regulations.

Location and Travel
This is a remote position, although all “hands-on” responsibilities will take place in our Chandler, Arizona or Tempe, Arizona facilities. We anticipate the need to travel a minimum of once a month for the foreseeable future. Due to the fast-moving nature of this position, you may be required to travel on short notice throughout the U.S. if the need arises.

In periods where the projects you’re overseeing are in construction, >50% travel schedule could be required… but the department target is to keep travel requirements closer to the 25% range. Travel to our Corporate Office will be required as needed. Expectation is 1-2 times per quarter.

Compensation and Benefits:
We are targeting a base salary range of approximately $100K – $130K for this PM role. Benefits include:

  • Stock options in a fast growing, pre-IPO company granted to all employees.
  • Generous annual bonus potential.
  • Erthos pays 100% of all medical, dental and vision insurance premiums for its employees and their spouse and children.
  • Flexible Paid Time Off (PTO).
  • 401(K)
  • Featured benefits
  • Medical insurance
  • Vision insurance
  • Dental insurance
